Farmstand Heritage Celebration
Thank you to all who joined us at the annual "Grown on Long Island" Day, Friday, August 6, 2014 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Suffolk County Farm, 350 Yaphank Avenue, Yaphank. For more information click here! We look forward to seeing you again in 2016!
The Peconic Land Trust encourages you to shop at our local farmstands and farmers markets on Long Island. Find your favorite, and get to know your local farmers! Shopping at farmstands, farmers markets and in the local sections of your grocery store, ensures that you know where your food comes from, and helps support the local economy. Long Island's farmers offer some of the finest fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, eggs and products (like honey and cheese!) in the country. Our agricultural community is a key component of what makes the Long Island such a wonderful place to live and visit.
We hope that all of us who live here or visit the area will connect with a local farmer in the same way that we connect with our local doctor, mechanic, pharmacist or other service provider. Spend time at their farmstand, learn about why and how farmers do what they do, and then bring home their tasty, fresh, and healthy produce. Connecting with a local farmer can be a wonderful experience for everyone and is key to ensuring the future of agriculture on Long Island.
We are currently working to produce an updated list of farmstands that will be linked to our interactive map to guide you to them. Check back soon! Click here for an alphabetical listing of East End Farmstands, which includes hours of operation, location, contact info & products.
