Year after year, development pressure facing landowners of working farms and natural lands continues to increase; placing what remains of our rural heritage and scenic vistas at extraordinary risk. The Peconic Land Trust’s mission is to conserve these precious resources that are at risk of being lost forever.

As the need for the Trust’s work continues to grow, the keystone of our success remains the support of our donors. We depend on the generous support of donors to continue our land conservation and stewardship work. Thank you for your support!

The Trust also accepts Memorial Gifts and Bequests, as well as Conservation Gifts of land and Stewardship Gifts of equipment.

Matching Gifts

2% TAX

Many believe that the funds raised by the PDF 2% real estate transfer tax (Community Preservation Fund) go to Peconic Land Trust for its conservation programs. This is incorrect! The Trust, a nonprofit charitable organization, raises funds for its conservation work primarily through private donations. It does not collect or distribute the proceeds from the Community Preservation Fund's 2% real estate tax. The tax is collected by Suffolk County and redistributed to the Town in which the property purchased is located.

Many companies encourage charitable giving by matching the donations of their employees. Please check with your Human Resources department to see if your gift to Peconic Land Trust qualifies and if so, obtain a matching gift form. Just send it with your donation to the Trust and we will process it for you. If you have any questions, please contact Rebecca A. Chapman.

The Peconic Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. All gifts made to the Trust are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
